    Wouldn't This Be So Cool?

I opened my e-mail a few minutes ago and saw a message from a fellow HR blogger we all know and admire. He is gathering 2009 predictions from the blogosphere for HR, recruiting, blogging, technology, etc.

The way my days have been going lately, I knew that if I did not respond right now, it would be almost 2010 before I got back to it. So, I gave him three off the top of my head. I don't want to steal his thunder so I won't "divulge" my three but I have got to tell you one of my predictions:

HR professionals reaching out to HR students via blogs etc to provide valuable industry insight and learnings.

Wouldn't this be so cool? Does anybody say "cool" anymore? Am I showing my age? Ah, who cares.

    What do you think?

PS. If you have any predictions you'd like to share, you can send them to Lance Haun, Your HR Guy, at lancehaun.gmail.com.

I love 'cool' - say it all the time. Eventually it will come back into style. What's old is new again, eh?

I love your comment and I could see so much of this in the future! i would love to offer mentoring/coaching to young professionals.

I also would hope that blogging would gain some appreciation and credibility from SHRM/HRCI.

    Look forward to the posting!

I have to agree, very cool idea. HR actively communicating with people, through social media technology will be the big change in 2009. It will be even more important with the current economy, as we ask our employees to buckle up for the ride. Communication is a great way to make people feel assured that despite tough times, we'll all get through it together.

Great prediction Lisa, as you know I deal with HR students all the time in my class, and quite honestly, the educational experience and service I provide is only a very small part of all that the students should be discovering. More awareness, networking, and collaborating with 'real' HR leaders via blogs, Twitter, Facebook and other technologies is of significant benefit to the students, as well the the greater HR community.

I have only a small quibble, Lisa. I think this is already happening. It's one of those creeping changes that we look back on and say, "Wow!"

Wally, I thought about what you said. Yes, this is happening and yes, it is creeping along. After some thought, the AHA for me is two fold: first, that I can have a greater impact on and offer more to the learnings of others and secondly, instead of this creeping along, I predict that there will be a a giant, visible leap forward in 2009. Sites like HRMToday definitely are moving in that direction. Appreciate the comment - as always!
